After a lengthy, diligent effort to find a befitting gift for my Irish mother, I found this painted cast resin figurine of the legendary Patron Saint of Ireland to be of surprising quality. The over-all appearance is one of a finely-crafted carving in an Old World lyrical style similar to that of the Italian Mannerists, long-known for their superb church and cathedral sculptural works. There are several different palpable textures in saint's costume and the chromatic values are deep and rich. Mom swooned over it and it is now in her brightly-illuminated breakfront, along with her other collectables. Although it was rather pricey for a cast resin figurine, with any hope with the proper care it should last for generations to come. I am very satisfied with the purchase.Personally, I would like to see this company manufacture a much larger version of this image. |
